Brag about my Husband
I love having a talented husband with an electrical back ground. Since we bought our house a little over a year ago, he has replaced just about every light in our house and has just picked up the stuff to add a few new lights into our house. These lights were put up two weekends ago. This weekend he is putting up two small lights over my kitchen sink. Then we fixing a few things in the laundry room, and starting some renovations in our dinning area off the kitchen. Should be a fun weekend, I can't wait.

Sorry I don't take the greatest pictures. So you can't tell how nice the light really look when on.

Baby Shower Gift
Gift for another baby shower. My husband has a coworker that is having a baby girl. The office is giving her a baby shower before she is done working, she is going to be a stay at home mom. On Tuesday my husband asked if I could make something for a baby girl by Thursday so he could take a gift for a baby shower today. All I had was a bear baby blanket panel that makes me think of a little boy mostly. So I added a bow to the top of the bears head that the baby will be able to play with and chew on safely. The bow is made out of a red velvet type of fabric to match the backing. I just tied the blanket to keep it simple and add a little more interest for the baby in terms of things to grab at during play time on it. I finished it up yesterday just before my husband called to let me know that the baby shower has been moved to at least Monday because his coworker is having some kind of problem and been put on bed rest. Hopefully everything is OK with her and her baby, the office is waiting to hear more on how she is doing.

January 24
Yesterday my two oldest boys ended up sick, so I ended up having all four of my boys home today. Luckily they all were fairly good and even napped today. So I took advantage of the day where I could.

The first thing I got sewn was a wall hanging that I cut out last week. I didn't have time to finish it when I had hoped to. So it was nice being able to finish it off today.

The second thing I made was a dress for my oldest daughter's eighteen inch doll. She had complained about the one I made for my youngest daughter's doll and asked for one for her doll. I ended up using the same fabric as I used for my youngest daughter's doll. The style is a little different so that they can each have their own dress and not mix them up.

I managed to make a pair of shorts that my daughter's can share for their dolls. The only problem was that I thought that I had elastic for it. Turns out that I used the last of that size elastic already so I can not finish the shorts until I can get more.

Brag about My Youngest Daughter
My youngest daughter recently learned to sew buttons by hand at a church group activity. They made book marks with buttons on them. She gave her first one to a friend of hers. Since she did that she made a second one for a friend of mine that asked for a book mark. This time she tried to embroider my friends name on the book mark. She was just about done with the 'D' when I found out she was doing that. The only help I was allowed to give her was to help with the curves and to tie the ends off.

Baby Shower
Every week the young women and young men from church have activities. Sometimes all together boys and girls, sometimes all the girls do something while all the boys do their own thing, and other times in small groups by classes. This evening all the young women are getting together for a baby shower for one of their leaders, it will be the leaders four child but first girl. My oldest daughter is in the young women's group. Since its a baby shower my daughter wanted to take something. She asked if I could make a set of baby booties and mittens. I was planning on making them for her but this morning I went to make them and decided to change that a little. Instead I made a blanket out of a piece of fleece fabric that just got some stitching around it. I was going to offer to put the birth information on it after the baby arrives if she would like that. Then I just made a pair of baby mittens that kind of ended up matching. I think both my daughter and her leader will be happy with them.
My Girls Birthdays
Well it is official now that I have a teenager in my house. My oldest daughter just had her birthday. My youngest daughter has her birthday coming up. Their birthdays are a week apart. So from time to time we do a joint birthday and others they get individual birthday parties. This year it seems they are getting individual ones. Making one down and one to go.
Since we had ice storms in our area this weekend nothing was done. So we went out to dinner last night. This weekend we get to go clothes shopping with my oldest. She has been clothes, shoe and purse crazy for a year or more already. My youngest will be getting to do stuff sometime next week and weekend. They both get a three day weekend to hang with Dad as a present too. One because of the ice storm and one because of a holiday. Since they are both Daddy's Girls it works out great.

Doll Clothes
On Saturday,New Years, after the Rose Parade was over and my husband started watching football, I decide I was going to sew. I got out all my stuff figured out what I was going to work on after I mended some teddy bears for a few of my kids. I should have known that as soon as I get my stuff out for me I was going to have my kids wanting to do something. While I was mending the bears my youngest daughter come in and went though my fabric asking to make clothes for her new 18inch doll that she got for Christmas. My oldest daughter also came in but left upset because I was sewing the stuff for my other daughter instead of helping her cut out pieces for a skirt or something for her doll.

My youngest daughter had a small pile of fabric that she wanted stuff made out of for her doll. Together we made a dress and cut out the pieces for a similar dress for my oldest daughters American Girl doll since the dolls are the same size. Maybe today I can get that dress sewn. Since my oldest was so upset about me not helping her on Saturday maybe she will want to work with me on it today.

I had found the pieces to a coat that I finished off for my daughter in the boxes of fabric that my husband's Grandma had given me a while back. When my daughter was going through the fabric and found more of the same fabric she wanted a matching coat for her doll. Now they can match.
