Daughter's Summer Dress

To start I should say that my husbands has a set of Grandparents that live a few hours north of us right now. His Grandma has a sewing group called the Bear Huggers that sew care packages for cancer patients, mainly for women cancer patients. They make little bags to carry the patients meds, a few kinds of caps to cover up hair loss, and things like that. So they have people give them fabric all the time. They use what they can and give the rest and any scrap pieces to those that might be able to use what they can't. So I get a good bit of fabric from them.

I have just started to set aside time for me to get more sewing done. Letting me finally us some of the fabric they have given me. Such as being able to use some of the fabric they gave me to make my kids Halloween costumes this past year. (I can put pictures of those up later.) My kids like to go though the fabric and find the pieces that they like in hopes that I can make them something with them. My daughter found a few larger pieces of fabric that she likes so we took one and was able to make a dress. I sketched a dress that we might be able to make from the fabric. Granted she asked for a few changes that I did my best to do with what fabric I had. I think it still ended up looking nice. The dress is ment to be worn over her swimsuit since she tends to be in it a lot over the summer.
