Well today is the last day of May, Memorial Day, so everyone is home since my husband has the day off. We are planning on working in our garden and who knows what else will happen. Friday was the last day of school for my kids, so they had a half day. We got the house ready for a BBQ with friends on Saturday. They also have six kids so we had a full house, specially since the kids got stuck in side because of a thounder storm. All in all it was fun though. There got to our house a little after two and it was seven o'clock by the time we noticed the time. Since church was the next day we had to call it quits. Hopefully we can do it again soon, and if it is sunny we should be able to have a lot more fun. Rain or shine though I think we can have enough fun to make it worth it.
At church my second to youngest, Alexander was telling everyone that he knew that it was his birthday and he was four. He even got sung to in Primary. One of my other boys gave a talk with the help of my oldest daughter. She even decided to come give half of my lesson before heading to Young Womens. For some reason she was avoiding her class and I was not in the mood for fighting with her. After church we did have to go get a few things at the store because of the birthday kid getting what they want for dinner and not knowing what he wanted until church so we couldn't get the stuff before hand. Little kids do not understand not wanting to shop on Sunday as well as we like sometimes. At home I made his cake and let it cool while we had our Home Teachers over for a short visit. Then I decorated it while our dinner was in the oven. We had dinner, about an hour later we had cake and ice cream before letting Alexander open his presents.
Needless to say that this weekend has been busy already but very fun and enjoyable. I hope that June will be fun and enjoyable no matter how slow or busy our schedule gets.

Got Some Sewing Done
I managed to get some more stuff done yesterday, including some sewing. After I got my youngest two kids to nap, I was able to get some sewing done too. I found another bib to put together and got the vest put together that I found last week. Just have to make sure that I find some time to myself now that all my kids are home all day for summer. For now I have to get the house ready for company.

School Done/Summer Here
Well, yesterday ended up being an interesting but good day. Even though I didn't get much done with all the running around I had to do. So I am hoping to get more done today then yesterday. Not sure if that includes any sewing or crafts but I try to fit some of that in too.
As I thought one of my kids did get an award that we did not know the time for the ceremony to go see. It was yesterday morning and I didn't find out till after I picked kids up from school. At least I was able to go to one of the cerecmonies for the awards being given out. Just feel bad that I could see both of the kids that got awards this year receive them.
My kids have a full day of school today, no school tomorrow and then a half day of school on Friday if we want to get their report cards right away. Then they are done with school for the year. Can't believe that it is already summer break again. Wish me luck at keeping my kids all busy with something.

Start of a New Week
Well it is the start of a new week. Yesterday after church I hung out with my family and managed to work on my cross stitch for a while. I am proud to say I have now pulled four out of twenty pages out of my pattern because they have been completed. Although they are also the the pages with the least amount of work to be done on them, they are still done and pulled. Most of the pages have had most of the work done but still have a good amount left to be done. I am to the point where I can start finishing off pages one at a time with out having to do fifty or more color changes. Letting me fill in the piece as I move accross it. Making it look more like a complete piece a patchy piece. Seeing the areas that are now complete is helping to make me feel that the piece can and will be completed soon. Giving me more drive to make sure that it does not get put away again.
I have many more things that I could talk about on that project and others that I have planned to do soon. It will have to wait though, because I have four kids in the last week of school this week. I am going to an awards ceremony, to see one of my kids get two awards. I know at least one of my others will receive an award, but I haven't heard about when that grades ceremony will be. I just found out about this one at the last minute. So I will not be surprised if we find out about the other one at the last minute too.

Pillow Cases
Yesterday I was going through the fabric that I have from my husbands Grandma. There are some panels and things that she had already cut out but never put together. So yesterday I made my two youngest pillow cases with a set of panels that they helped me find. They actually had asked for me to make blankets for them. But I felt that they had enough of those that I decided to make some pillow cases. The bedding in their room is Nascar so I thought Hot Wheels wouldn't be to bad to mix and match with it.
I also found some pre cut vests and baby bibs. I sewed the bibs up yesterday, there are three bibs and they have Looney Tunes Characters on them. The vests I hope to get made in the next day or two. I find hiden little treasures like that from time to time as I look through the fabric that I got from my husbands Grandma.

Brag About My Sister, Chrisandra
Another of my beautiful and talented sisters, is my sister Chrisandra. She has many great talents and dabbles in a lot of different hobbies and crafts. She does a little bit of sewing and quilting, scrapbooking and card making, glass blowing and metal works, photography and film making. Although I do not know any web sites that show her wonderful talents off or have any examples that I can put up myself to share of her work. So you will have to take my word, she is very talented at the stuff she does. I will have to see what I can do about getting some pictures of the things that she does so that you can see for your self.
Like me she always has a hard time picking what project to work on out of everthing she comes up with. Tends to come up with new ideas for projects in the mist of working on another project. Then have to try and get the ideas down some where some how before they are forgotten. Like me she tends to have a few projects going at the same time. Making finding the time to actually get the stuff done the biggest problem.
I am blesses to have come from a large family of talented people. Who share a lot of the same interests. Making it easy to share ideas and get input on things that we do, either by ourselves or with other friends and family memebers. Now only if we can get together more often since most of us do not live near each other any more.

Daughter's Summer Dress
To start I should say that my husbands has a set of Grandparents that live a few hours north of us right now. His Grandma has a sewing group called the Bear Huggers that sew care packages for cancer patients, mainly for women cancer patients. They make little bags to carry the patients meds, a few kinds of caps to cover up hair loss, and things like that. So they have people give them fabric all the time. They use what they can and give the rest and any scrap pieces to those that might be able to use what they can't. So I get a good bit of fabric from them.
I have just started to set aside time for me to get more sewing done. Letting me finally us some of the fabric they have given me. Such as being able to use some of the fabric they gave me to make my kids Halloween costumes this past year. (I can put pictures of those up later.) My kids like to go though the fabric and find the pieces that they like in hopes that I can make them something with them. My daughter found a few larger pieces of fabric that she likes so we took one and was able to make a dress. I sketched a dress that we might be able to make from the fabric. Granted she asked for a few changes that I did my best to do with what fabric I had. I think it still ended up looking nice. The dress is ment to be worn over her swimsuit since she tends to be in it a lot over the summer.

Brag about my sister, Benay
Since a good part of my posts will have to do with my hobbies and interest and I have siblings that share some of mine. I figured that I could brag about them and some of the things they are doing. So to start I wanted to brag about my sister, Benay. She has recently started a business making and designing patterns for quilts. You can see some of her wonderful creations on her web site www.beanyboyquilts.com I am proud of the wonderful job she does on them. I must admit that I am a bit jealous of the her too. Not only does she find the time to work on the quilts but she has become more talented at putting together works of art, each more lovely then the last. I feel that I am a good quilter but after seeing hers I feel like I well never be as great a quilter as she. May be it is just that I don't have as much time to work on my quilting as she does but there is no doubt that she is better at it then I am at this time. Keep up the great job you are doing, Benay. I wish you great success as you get more quilts and patterns out and more people learn of your wonderful talent.

Something New
Well this is something new for me. I thought that I would give it a try as a way to keep me on task with a few of my other projects that I work on. It will be my goal to get my projects completed, photographed and posted to show what I have done. Or to share ideas for projects that I hope to start soon. As well as gives me a place to write down what is going on in my family to help me work out solutions to any problems or brag depending on how things are going.
So to start things off I am currently working on three projects. One is a dress that just has to be fitted to my oldest daughter. So it should be done in a day or two, since I have to wait for her to have time for the fitting. Another project is a Twilight Saga/Edward Cullen blanket that I am making for my friend. It is currently being delayed by the fact that my printer ran out of ink for printing the pictures that will be on it. A trip to get more ink should be soon, if I can remember when I am out and about taking care of other things. I hope to finish it by the time my friend visits at the end of June. My third project is a cross stitch that I must admit I started five years ago. It is of my Mother-in-law and her Dad taken from a photo we have. It is on a 24 count canvas, so it is very detailed. Considering that I have been tending to work on it for about a month or two in a row for maybe an hour a day and then put it aside for about six months. I have gotten it out again and I am determined that I am not going to put it away again. I am going to get it completed once and for all. I still only will have an hour or so here and there to work on it but it will get done. The question is how long will it take me to finally finish it.
