Aug 30

Well my husband is back from his week long trip to oversee some things at a few military training schools. We had a fun week at my house while he was gone. I rearranged the family room and cleaned my kitchen top to bottom. I finished lining the storage bench that my kids us for toys, they only could use half of it before. Even got some work done out in the yard. I got a bunch of sewing done and had time to relax and enjoy my two kids that are not in school yet.

The not so good part was that one of my kids hurt their leg and is now hobbling around on cruches for two weeks. Luckily no broken bones or anything to bad. Just fun trying to get doctor visits in the late afternoon and end up going in the evening, when other things are scheduled. But we got everyone where they needed to be and along with the doctors appointment so not to horrible.

For my sewing I was made two cases to hang from a doorknob to hold plastic bags. One is small and long to hang from my frig door. The other is shorter and fat, my two youngest kids think it is a punching bag. So it is hanging on the back of a chair for them to use to punch instead of each other. Another sewing project that I did this week while my husband was gone was a skirt and vest. I picked a fabric and designed something that I thought it would look good as, then made it. Just have to get a zipper on the skirt and a few buttoms on the vest to complete it.

Aug 20

Well I have not been getting to much done or keeping up with much of anything lately I must say. I feel bad about it but all I can do is try to get off my butt and get back in gear to make sure that I stay on top of things.

My kids, my four oldest kids started back to school on the ninth of this month. It has been nice but has helped me slack on my things. Since usually I take a week off from most things to just relax and enjoy a little less going on. Just this year I am having a hard time getting back into my routine after the one week. So my goal this weekend is to kick myself back into gear and get things done. To bad I wont be able to post anything about how I am doing with that till the following week though. Right now my family only has one laptop and my husband will have it with him on a business trip for the week. But that is one less thing to distract me from getting things done that I need to. Or from putting off anything else because I am stuck at the computer and not really doing anything anyway. Seeing as how I have been on the computer a lot more then usual since my kids have started back to school yet still didn't post anything until now.

As for crafts...I did manage to help my oldest daughter make a plastic canvas box with a bouquet of lace flowers for the Ward Young Women's President at church. I forgot to get pictures of it before she took it to her at the Wednesday activity though. The box was a teal color with a white heart on one side and a white YW on the opposite side. My daughter decided to have the edges done in white so that it made a nice boarder on each side when all put together. My daughter made three flowers of just pink lace and three of just a burgundy lace. Then I made three flowers with both color, two with the pink in the middle and one with it on the outside. It made a nice little gift. My daughter says that the Young Women's President liked it and I am sure she did. I am proud of my daughter for making it will how nice it looked. Plus it was the first time either of us had tried to make lace flowers. Now my daughter is trying to figure out what to make for the other three leaders that she has for Young Women's.

Well tomorrow is my youngest birthday, he will be three years old. The only sad thing is that his dad has to leave early in the morning for a business trip but so is the live of a working/military man. Today he is trying to get better from feeling sick. Yesterday he wasn't feeling good and was clingy all day. Then last night he had a fever. Since he woke up he has not had a fever or really been clingy. I hope he is feeling better by the time everyone gets home and we have his little family birthday party. We planned it for tonight since his dad has to leave tomorrow. Then we will try to spoil him all day tomorrow too.

That is about it for August so far. I really hope I can get myself going again to get all the things done that I need to and would like to get done.

Aug 9

Today is the first day of school for some of my kids. I have four in school and two home again this year. It will take us a week or two to get into the swing of things of the school schedule. When you have a large family it makes a big impact on your day with sending a number of the kids off to school after hanging out together all summer. So it takes me a little while to get use to it at the start of each school year. Though I think that the biggest impact is the fact that I can now do my chores around the house and be more likely to see that things are done in the evening when my husband gets home. With the exception of a room or two because of the little ones still in the house.

Baby Packages

These are pictures of the items going into the two baby packages that I am sending to my cousins and their wives. Each set gets two bibs, four blocks and a set of mittens and botties. The bibs are two sided except for the one that had bunnies on it. That package is going to my cousin that is having a little girl. The other one is going to my cousin that is having a little boy. I hope that they like them.

Reading Tree Update

We started a family summer reading program we call the reading tree. For every book that is read a leaf goes on the tree. They have had a good of twenty-five books a month. They met the goals and read fifty books earning a squeal for the tree. I made the squeal and my oldest daughter gave it a face. We decide that it is going to be up through the school year but the monthly reading goal is going to fifty books a month, so our tree will keep growing. This month the goal is to feed the squeal so for every ten books the squeal gets an acorn. My husband and I are talking about what can go in the tree after that for the next month.

Frogs

I decided to make a beanbag frog on Friday. My kids thought they were so cute that I had to make a family of them so that everyone could have one. Once I husband saw them he asked for one too, since I only made half of them on Friday. His is now sitting on his desk at work. My kids have been playing with theirs almost none stop since I made them. The only bad part about that is when they had them at church on Sunday. My husband and I had to put the frogs on time out to get the kids to sit still. Usually if they manage to get a toy during church they play quietly in their seats, not the case with the frogs. My husband suggests that next time I make frog, they might be cute if I add a tongue or a tongue with a fly on it or that can has Velcro to catch a separate fly. I might try those later to see but not sure I will make a family of them for my kids. If I do try to make new frogs I might make them a little bigger. The ones I made are only about three inches long at most.
